About Brick Breaker

Brick Breaker is a colourful take on the classic paddle-and-ball arcade game. Slide your paddle along the bottom of the screen to bounce the ball up into a wall of bricks, and smash every breakable brick to clear the level. Where the ball lands on your paddle decides its angle: hit it with the edge for a sharp shot into a tricky corner, or with the middle to send it straight up. There are ten hand-made levels to beat, from a simple warm-up wall to diamonds, checkerboards and fortresses guarded by steel bricks that cannot be broken. Silver bricks need two hits and gold bricks need three, and every broken brick makes the ball just a little faster. Some bricks drop power-ups as they break: catch them with your paddle for a wide paddle, a multi-ball that splits every ball into three, a slow-motion ball, or an extra life. You start with three lives, lose one whenever the last ball slips past your paddle, and score bonus points for every level you clear with lives to spare. Finish all ten levels and the game loops back with faster balls for an even bigger challenge, and once per game you can watch a short ad for an extra life. Brick Breaker plays free in your browser on phones, tablets and computers: drag or move the mouse to steer the paddle, or use the arrow keys, and tap, click or press Space to launch the ball. Your best score and furthest level are saved automatically.

How to play

Move the paddle by dragging anywhere on the game (touch), moving the mouse, or pressing the left and right arrow keys (or A and D). Tap, click or press Space to launch the ball. Bounce it into the bricks to break them; hitting the ball with the edge of the paddle sends it off at a sharper angle. Silver bricks take two hits, gold bricks three, and grey steel bricks cannot be broken. Catch falling power-ups: wide paddle, multi-ball, slow ball and extra life. Clear every breakable brick to finish the level. Press P or Escape to pause.

Questions

How many levels are there?īŧ‹

Ten hand-made levels. After the tenth, the levels repeat with faster balls.

What do the power-ups do?īŧ‹

The green one widens your paddle for 15 seconds, the blue one splits every ball into three, the purple one slows the ball for 10 seconds, and the red heart gives an extra life.

Why can't I break the grey bricks?īŧ‹

Grey steel bricks are unbreakable obstacles. You do not need to break them to clear the level.

How do I aim the ball?īŧ‹

The ball bounces off at an angle depending on where it hits the paddle: the further from the centre, the sharper the angle.

Is Brick Breaker free?īŧ‹

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download.
