About Plank Drop
Plank Drop is a screw-and-plank puzzle. Wooden planks are screwed to a pegboard in layers, each held by colourful screws. Tap a screw and it spins out and flies to the box of its colour at the top; fill a box with three screws and it is carried away and the next one arrives. A screw that no box wants goes to the small spare tray instead, and if the tray fills up with nothing left that fits, you are stuck. Screws under a higher plank cannot be reached until that plank is gone. Take out all but one screw and the plank swings down on the last one like a pendulum, uncovering or hiding the screws around it; take the last one and the plank tumbles off the board with a thud. Plan which planks to free first, keep the tray clear and drop every plank to clear the board. The levels grow from a few planks to crowded stacks of sixteen with seven colours, and every one is played many times in our tests by a casual computer player, who clears it most of the time, so a little thought always gets you through. Plank Drop is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
How to play
Tap a screw to take it out. It goes to the open box of the same colour, or to the spare tray if no box needs it. Screws under another plank cannot be tapped until that plank is gone. Planks swing when one screw is left and fall when none are. Clear every screw without filling the tray.
Questions
Why can't I tap some screws?īŧ
They are under a higher plank. Take out the screws of the plank on top first; once it swings away or falls, the screws below are free.
What happens when the tray is full?īŧ
As long as a screw you can reach fits an open box, you can keep going. If none does, the level is stuck: try again, or watch an ad for one extra tray slot.
Is every level possible?īŧ
Yes. Each level is chosen so that a casual computer player clears it most of the time, and is checked again in our tests with fresh tries.
