About Ludo

Ludo is the much-loved family board game of dice, racing and sneaky captures, ready to play in your browser against friendly computer opponents or with family and friends on the same phone. Each player has tokens waiting in a coloured yard; roll a six to bring a token out onto the track, then move it clockwise around the board by the number on the dice. The first player to bring every token all the way around and into the home triangle in the centre wins. Along the way the fun really starts: land on a square occupied by a rival's token and you send it straight back to its yard, but your tokens are exposed to the same treatment, so think about which token to move and when. Star squares and coloured starting squares are safe spots where nobody can be captured. Rolling a six, capturing a token or bringing a token home all earn you another roll, though three sixes in a row will cost you your turn. Choose a two-player game or a lively four-player table, and decide who plays each colour: a person or a bot. Pass the phone round for a game with friends, mix friends and bots, or take on the bots (Leafy, Sunny and Splash) who play sensibly, chase captures and protect their own tokens. Short on time? Pick Quick mode with two tokens each for a game of just a few minutes, or Classic mode with all four tokens for the full game. The game remembers your wins and even saves a game in progress, so you can come back and finish it later. Ludo is free to play on phones, tablets and computers, with simple taps or the keyboard.

How to play

On the start screen, tap each colour to make it a player or a bot; with several players, pass the device round so everyone takes their own turn. Tap the dice (or press Space) to roll on your turn. You need a 6 to bring a token out of your yard onto your starting square. Then tap a highlighted token to move it forward by the number rolled. If only one move is possible, it happens automatically. Landing on an opponent's token on a normal square sends it back to its yard. Star squares and starting squares are safe. A 6, a capture or getting a token home earns another roll, but three 6s in a row end your turn. Tokens need the exact number to reach home. Get all your tokens home first to win.

Questions

How do I get a token out of the yard?οΌ‹

Roll a 6. The token moves onto your coloured starting square, and you roll again.

Which squares are safe?οΌ‹

The coloured starting squares and the squares marked with a star. Tokens on them cannot be captured.

What is Quick mode?οΌ‹

Quick mode gives every player two tokens instead of four, so a game takes only a few minutes.

Can I play with friends?οΌ‹

Yes, on the same device. On the start screen, tap a colour to switch it between player and bot: two to four people can take turns on one phone or computer, with or without bots. Wins are counted in games against bots.

Is my game saved?οΌ‹

Yes. A game in progress is saved automatically, and you can continue it the next time you open Ludo.
