Drag Duel
About Drag Duel
Drag Duel is a quarter-mile drag race: two cars, one straight strip of 402 metres and a rival in the next lane. It is all about timing. While the start lights count down, hold the gas to rev the engine and keep the needle in the green zone. Launch too low and the car bogs, too high and the tyres spin up in smoke. Once you are off, shift up yourself: change gear when the needle sweeps into the green just before the red line for a perfect shift and a little kick of extra power, but shift too early and the engine falls flat, too late and it bounces off the rev limiter. Fire your nitro once per race, ideally in a long gear. Every win earns cash for the garage: tune the engine, tyres, gearbox, nitro and weight, and buy faster cars, from a little hatchback to a V8 muscle car, a street tuner, a grand tourer and finally a hypercar. Ten rivals wait on the ladder, from Lil Timmy to King Kaz, each faster than the last, and every race shows your time to the thousandth of a second. Set your best quarter-mile time and climb the leaderboard. Drag Duel plays free in your browser with one key or on-screen buttons.
How to play
Before the green light, hold Space (or the GAS button) and keep the rev needle in the green zone. After the start, press Space (or SHIFT) to change up when the needle reaches the green zone near the red line. Press N (or NITRO) once for a boost. Win to earn cash, then upgrade your car and buy new ones in the Garage.
Questions
When should I shift?īŧ
When the needle reaches the green band just before the red line. That is a perfect shift: the quickest gear change plus a short burst of extra power.
I keep losing to the next rival. What now?īŧ
Race a rival you have already beaten for more cash (rematches pay 60%), then upgrade your engine and tyres or buy a faster car in the Garage.
Can every rival be beaten?īŧ
Yes. Our tests play a whole career with a computer driver who shifts like an average person, and it beats all ten rivals in a few dozen races.
